Google Chrome for iOS Introduces AI-Powered Article Summarization

Google has unveiled its latest enhancement to search capabilities, incorporating advanced generative AI features to assist users in comprehending and learning from online information more effectively. This development aims to simplify the process of understanding lengthy articles on the internet.

Within the Google Search app for Chrome, a new beta feature has been introduced that enables users to summarize extensive articles. This functionality empowers Chrome to extract "key points" from a webpage and offer an "Explore on page" section. In this section, users can find relevant questions and answers extracted from the content itself.

Google highlights that this innovative feature, called "SGE while browsing," is designed to facilitate a deeper engagement with long-form content produced by creators. It selectively presents key highlights from freely accessible web articles, and it refrains from summarizing articles that are behind paywalls.

Initially, this AI-driven capability is available for Chrome users on iOS and Android devices. Google has plans to extend this feature to desktop users in the coming days.

Furthermore, Google envisions future improvements to the AI-generated responses. These enhancements will enable users to hover over words within the summarized content to instantly view definitions and access related diagram.
